This inspirational event will bring together an extraordinary line-up of expert presenters – people who are amongst the foremost thinkers and doers in the fields of climate change and sustainability. They will make an effort to provide substantial background information in a way that is accessible to all, and they will be available for your questions and for discussion.
They will bring a wealth of knowledge, information and skills which together we can make use of. In some cases the complex subject matter might tempt presenters to fall into the jargon of their field, which could, of course, make it difficult for everybody to be involved. All presenters have, therefore, been asked to make their contributions as accessible and practical as possible, and to always link abstract figures and information with tangible, everyday detail.
All presenters will also emphasise interaction and discussion, if there is interest and energy for that amongst participants. Rather than talking ‘at you’, they would like to create an atmosphere of exchange and joint exploration. Your diverse skills, resources and life experience are valuable to the functioning of your community - even though not everybody actually feels this, it’s nevertheless true.
Organised into six strands of themes and topics (including activities for children and young people), the day will be a unique opportunity to imagine a future in which we will be Thriving Sustainably.
We will write a bit more about this, once the details for all the presentations are uploaded and available.
We expect that some of the young people whom we are inviting will want to participate in some of the events, and we hope this will work. If you are in any doubt about a particular event and whether it would be suitable or of interest to you, please feel free to contact either the presenter directly or contact us to inquire.
You will be invited to donate towards the costs of the day and the presenters’ expenses at each event.
