Earth Rover 1 is an electric milk float transformed into a dynamic, earth-friendly mobile exhibition of the highest standards of energy efficiency measures and functioning renewable power technologies, for schools and public venues.
The onboard hands-on display shows basic principles for all education levels through to adults along with functioning renewable power systems, including wind turbine, solar thermal and solar photovoltaic technologies. Later on the exhibit will have a working fuel-cell and other micro-renewable power systems. There is 2000 Watts of electrical power available at 220-240V from these sources.
Mission:
The mission of Earth Rover one is to provide an exciting and instructive way to educate, inspire and empower people to become environmentally responsible citizens.

Presenter's Personal/Professional Background: Stephen Bond
I am an Oxford resident, and I have been involved in voluntary work with other local community efforts, over the last five years, in environmental education in conjunction with raising awareness about action on energy and climate security; the most fundamental of climate change issues. I have been running workshops about energy efficiency, the use of solar and renewable power and which promote the public understanding of environmentally sustainable science, technology and Climate Change issues. I always try to integrate my voluntary work, collaborating closely with others doing the same in our community.
Building on my experience, I have developed an electric vehicle as a mobile demonstration of energy efficiency and state of the art functioning & integrated solar and micro-renewable power technologies, for use in environmental education in schools and public venues in Oxfordshire. I provide it as a free educational resource for the community and the exhibit was on display for the first time on the occasion of the 2nd International Solar Cities Congress held here in Oxford in early April 2006
I make no charge and receive no income from my voluntary work in environmental education. The mobile unit is my conception - it has been made possible by generosity and donation in kind from “Dairy Crest”, colleagues, industrial collaborators, and by own efforts and resources.
