The Sustainable Architecture & Eco-Houses presentation includes an inspirational outline of sustainable building practice, with UK and international examples. Presenter's Personal/Professional Background: Paola Sassi

Paola Sassi is a senior lecturer at Oxford Brookes University and partner at Sassi Chamberlain Architects. She is involved in university teaching, sustainable design consultancies, architectural design and practice and research into sustainable design, zero-CO2 buildings and closed-loop material cycle buildings.

She is the author of ‘Strategies for Sustainable Architecture’ published by Taylor & Francis Group, an illustrated overview of sustainable design approaches and technologies exemplified through 60 case study buildings in UK, US, Australia, Germany and Austria, which was runner up in the RIBA International Book Award 2007. She has also published in the field of design for deconstruction and closed-loop material cycles, post-occupancy building evaluations and sustainability and professional ethics.
Recent architectural work includes a sustainable community centre won through a limited competition, shortlisted entries to national and international sustainable design competitions, and the design and construction of two zero-heating flats in Cardiff designed to be near zero CO2 and form part of a closed-loop material cycle.
