There are many, many ways you can get involved and help make this a special day for all of us. Have a look through the list of tasks on the right, and see whether you want to take one - or some of them - on, by yourself or in cooperation with others.
Only a few days are now left, and many things have already been taken care of.
The most important thing now is to get us into local radio or TV in the next three days - anybody with personal connections in that area can get us a foot in the door ?
We are planning to have a volunteer at each of the day’s events: to welcome people, make them feel comfortable, answer questions, watch over the equipment, serve as a reference, liaison and contact point as well as gather feedback. We’ll definitely need more people for that, so you might want to do that at some of the session that you yourself will attend.
We are planning to have a briefing meeting for volunteers early on the Saturday, before the public arrive, around 8.30am (if we manage to set up everything by then). We will finalise time slots and rotas then, but if you want to give me details before as to when you are available, that will make things faster on Saturday morning.
We will keep up-dating this list of tasks, so do come back to look through further requests for help.
Although most contributors are generously giving their time and expertise for free, we do have some expenses: costs of the venue, leaflets, some money for a fundraiser and publicity as well as a website expert, and some money for travel and accommodation for contributors who come from further away. Your donation will go towards covering those costs. Any profit at the end of the day will go towards sustainable projects, with the bulk being donated towards Low Carbon West Oxford and Resurgence Magazine. Accounts will be made public on this website after the event, in case there are any questions.
For an explanation of the compromises we had to find for receiving charitable donations, and why the ‘Donate’ button below takes you to PayPal for a German charity, see here.
Once on the German PayPal page, enter an amount, and click on the light-blue button called ‘Summe neu berechnen’, then log-in to your PayPal account below (by clicking on ‘Einloggen’ after entering your email and password). Any queries, do get in touch.
